Personal Philosophy
Overall, I love the idea of having a philosophy. Something you care about so much, that it makes you who you are and why you care about the things you do. When thinking about a personal philosophy, my mind kept turning back to music and how it brings growth. The definition for growth is "the process of developing or maturing physically, mentally, or spiritually." I truly believe that music can bring so much growth into a person's life. Recently, I have pondered the power of growing as a student. Through so many changes, students need to grow to see the positive in their life.
In music, students learn how to count beats. This strengthens their brain in thinking skills, as well as teaches them basic math. Reading about different composers and genres of music can strengthen a student's reading level as well as their knowledge of different eras and time periods. As you can see, not only is music so much fun, but it's also so much more than that!
Music can teach students to work with other people as well! All sorts of music include teamwork. Whether you are playing music, listening to music, or even marching in high school, music can bring people to grow together! I have lived this through experience by meeting the best people who help me grow into who I am today! In my classroom, I want to encourage growth in everything my students and I do!
